Terms, conditions and benefits:

Intensive Support Worker
  • Pay: £22,658 to £24,964 (NJC 25-28) per year pro rata starting at the bottom of the scale.
  • Contract type: Permanent.
  • This is a part time post, 22.5 hours per week.
Senior Intensive Support Worker
  • Pay: £23,398 to 25,951 (NJC 26-29) per year pro rata starting at the bottom of the scale.
  • Contract type: Permanent.
  • This is a part time post, 30 hours per week.
Both roles
  • 30 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata).
  • Free Health Scheme with UK Healthcare.
  • Pension - Employer contributes 4% and employees contribute a minimum of 0.8%, (see Summ of T&Cs below).
  • There is a requirement to work flexibly as required, which will include occasional evening and weekend work.
  • You will need to travel across South Glos so you must have either a full driving licence and access to a vehicle or the equivalent ability to travel with reasonable adjustments.
You’ll be working in the South Glos Team based in Patchway and line managed by the South Glos Services Manager.

The South Glos team is currently made up of ten staff working across multiple contracts and is a crucial part of 1625ip’s service. Our established services in South Glos include a Floating Support Service to young people in the community, Supported Housing, a Care Leavers Resettlement Service, support for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and our Future 4 Me service offering support to care leavers and young people leaving custody.
The CYPS Intensive Support Scheme is a new service in South Glos and will be an additional and critical part of the youth housing pathway.
Both roles provide an exciting opportunity to focus on developing and embedding this service. On an ongoing basis you will take referrals, carry out assessments and support young people with high support needs across three self contained units in South Glos. The service will support young people to achieve their goals and aspirations and develop independent living skills. Both roles will work closely with partner agencies to ensure wrap around support is provided where necessary, as well as carry out housing management tasks when needed. 

The Senior Intensive Support Worker will oversee the project, providing line management support for the Intensive Support Worker and, in liaison with the South Glos Services Manager, ensure all KPIs and monitoring requirements are met.

We are also advertising for an Intensive Support Worker in our Bristol High Support Team. If you are applying for this post and also wish to be considered for the equivalent Intensive Support Worker role in Bristol, please indicate on your application form.
The team are very supportive of each other and through reflective practice we are always learning from our own and each other’s experiences. 
Our work is rooted in providing support in a Psychologically Informed Environment framework known as PIE. 
No two days will be the same but a typical day in both roles might include: 
  • Managing referrals coming into the service and interviewing & assessing young people.
  • Liaising with key partners to support the project, hosts and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Logging repair requests onto Pyramid (our housing management system) and ensuring they are monitored and carried out in a timely manner.
For the senior role only:
  • Overseeing the project.
  • Providing line management support.

About you

For both roles:

You have empathy and understanding of the needs of homeless young people, young people leaving care, and the barriers they face. You like being around and working with young people.

You have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate, inspire and build trust with particularly vulnerable young people with complex support needs. You have the ability to be supportive and challenging and offer clear and consistent responses.

You are able to make effective decisions that safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, and manage risk to young people, staff and others.

For the senior role only:
You also possess excellent project management skills and experience of working independently.
